We all want to feel in control of our lives, but sometimes we feel lost and start doubting what we do. Today we’ll talk about how to handle doubt in a successful way.

If we have a deep understanding of where we’re heading, it doesn’t matter when something difficult happens.

– Andy Puddicombe

Whenever we’re on a journey, trying to achieve a goal or a dream, obstacles and challenges will arise along the way. There’s no way around it. That’s just how life is.

For me this happened this very morning, while I was talking about work with my wife, drinking our morning coffee in bed. I was telling her about all my plans and visions and felt very proud of what I’ve accomplished so far, since quitting my day job.

My wife was challenging my dreams and questioning my visions a bit, and when she finally asked “but will you be able to earn enough money from doing all that?” I suddenly felt scared and anxious.

What if I wasn’t? What if I f*cked everything up? What chance do I even have if my own wife doubts med?

It’s very easy to get caught up, or even lost in them when they arise. Our motivation, and energy is suddenly focused on resisting and fighting the problem that’s threatening us. But it’s a trap. All that does is creating more tension in your body and mind, making it even harder to get past the obstacle and move on.

In my case it sent me down a negative spiral of thinking about how I would become broke, nobody would hire me anymore, my wife would leave me… and so on. Anxiety and fear got a grip on me and I could feel that uncomfortable pressure over my chest making it all hard to breath again. Shit, shit, shit…

Then I remembered (and this is what I want to share with you, so you know what to do if you find yourself in a similar situation).

The solution is to remember the truth. And the truth is that these challenges will happen. There is no way around it. They’re not separate from the journey. They are part of the process.

If we understand that and find a way to use them, instead of resisting them, they can be powerful tools. Then they can work with us, rather than against us.

Sounds crazy? It isn’t. It might be the case that you’re not used to this, because all our life we’ve been taught to fight that which we perceive as bad. But what I’m trying to say to you (and remind myself of) is that you should never fight against thing, but for things.

That little shift in your mind will make all the difference.

For example, that’s what I’m doing right now. I’m using my knowledge about what makes me scared when trying to reach my dreams to do what I love the most – and that is to try and help you.

We never know what will happen in our lives or along the journey. That’s just how it is. What we do know is that when we have a deep understanding of our goals/dream/purposes – a true north star – that’s all we need.

If you have a clear vision of where you’re heading, you’ve always have that to come back to. Remember that! When you do obstacles only become challenges to overcome, instead of the end.

And, an additional bonus is that once you’ve overcome your obstacles you are free to make them part of your knowledge and success instead. Like I just did by telling you all this. Thank you for listening my friend.
